In an apparent response to the increasing recurrence of kidnappings, murders and insecurity in the country, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian church of God Pastor Enoch Adeboye Today, Sunday, 2nd of February, 2020, led members of the Redeemed Christian Church of God on a prayer walk to "usher in a new dawn in Nigeria".

In an official statement, the clergyman said
 "The prayer walk was aimed at offering prayers and supplications unto God to save Nigeria from being consumed by insurgents, terrorists, bandits, kidnappers, armed robbers, militants and ritualists in all our states. 

 Furthermore, we declared that Jesus who is the Prince of Peace is our Lord and King. We carried and displayed several placards saying ‘No’ to further killings and demanding that the Federal and State governments should rise up to their civic responsibility of securing the lives and properties of her citizens. 

 In addition to this, we suggest that the security infrastructure in our nation be overhauled and improved drastically.

 It is our prayer and burning desire that peace will reign in our land. It is our heart-cry that our current security challenges will be a thing of the past.

Members of the clergy have recently become soft targets for kidnappers and insurgents in the country. The consensus from many quarters was that the the Christian Association of Nigeria and The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, the umbrella association for churches in Nigeria were not concerned about the fate of its members.

LESSONS FROM THE RICE POT

So here I am at the adult school kitchen, watching my rice cook in my newly bought locally fabricated pot code named " kokolet".. My neighbor asks off handedly. " are you going to sit here till the rice cooks?" I respond in the affirmative, and she says " me I cannot oo." I will put it on fire and go to the room  and return later, she adds.. I simply smiled , looking at the bubbles accompanying the sound of rice boiling, I catch an instantaneous lesson surge from the depth of my spirit , which I proceeded to share with her. It is an undeniable part of humankind to hate the kitchen heat but love the food that the heat produces. cooking various delicacies reminds you about the need to be patient with yourself whilst your dreams and visions cook.
